Hi all.
As you may know by now, Winamp-5 is officially released at winamp.com
So I've updated/redesigned ZDL-ANALOG Studio Reel-To-Reel skin for winamp-5 specificly. There are couple of differences and new features in winamp-5.
BTW is works much better than winamp-5. It is also technicly winamp2.xx player, but it supprts free form skins along with some other improvements and new features.
I also released winamp-5 version of ZDL-GOLD STACK stero-system skin.
You can try these skins/download here: ZDL-Skins page
If you do not use winamp-5, then don't download these skins, because they will not work correctly with winamp-2/nor winamp-3.
If you get winamp-5, keep in mind that by default it replaces your winamp2 ...the directory is: C:\Program Files\Winamp
This also means, that if you currently have winamp-3, then you may keep it as separate player from winamp-3. Winamp-3 still may exist on your system in directory C:\Program Files\Winamp3
SO! To use winamp-5 skins you need to make sure that you install winamp-5 first, and then make sure that you download and save winamp5skin.wal file in directory: C:\Program Files\Winam\Skins

hey, Henrik  The tube IS there !!! heh heh lol it took me many hours to make it sort of look like a tube and make it work (light on/off) on/off when playing/stopping ..... I've also just last night spent a few hours "installing/replacing" tape-guiding roller stands and make them spin - brand new parts and I fixed the VU lights (they did not work while playing in previous version)... I also alighned heads and took dust and rust off here and there ...hah hah
BTW! don't forget to check color themes. This is new extra in this version... Main Menu/Options/Color Themes (you get main menu just by right-click anywhere). The color themes are kinda silly, but the usefull are: "Evening Light", "Rainy Day" and "Sunny Day" - these themes adjust overall brightness of the skin. "Normal" (default) theme is the darkest. I had many complains in the past that this skin is too drak...so now you can adjust it for your computer screen's brightness for the best look.
I still have to find time to update Audiophile System with Tubes for wa-5.... it's allot of borring work, but I just have to do it... my duty now ...LOL

lol..hah.... actually even the skin got nothin' to do with sound, but I've noticed this too... it's one of those mysteries of brain... I guess visual prtion sometimes can effect brain't auricular zones ...or something like that

How to adjust colors?
You can't 
This actually was discussed many times in the past in winamp's phorums. It would take a special programing in deeper root of winamp. But the color-themes feature at least lets to 'pre-program' some color-sets in the skin design.
Technicly speaking, creating color-themes comes to three steps:
1. Define parts in layout which to be separatly effected by 'gamma' settings
2. asign 'gamma group' id-names to specified elements.
3. Define gamma-settings parameters for each 'gamma group' for the 'theme'

so, to summ-up: this color-thems are fixed/pre-designed in the skin-file. They are not adjustable from player interface. You only can switch between themes.... similar to non-editable factory presets in synth/effect processors etc.....heh heh
Henrik, if you really really want some special color set/look which does not exist in the color-themes list...let me know... I can try to create it and add a theme. Which parts - what color?
However, it's a bit triky and has limitations....like I can not separate small details/parts etc.... Gamma effect works similar to "photo-filter" effect.
There are couple green themes there "Green Light and Lime ligt" themes ...try them ....MainMenu/Options/Color Themes.
Also for faster color themes preview do this:
Main Menu/Options/Preferences
In Preferences at the left click Skins/Modern Skins, then in the right part of this window click "Color Themes" tub,
Now you have color themes list, select theme and push "Set Theme" button. This way you can quikcly compare and find the theme you like the most.
I would not say color themes look so great thou.... it's more for fun. Again the best use of it is that there are couple of 'brightness themes, because different computer screens really effect the look of everything, and it is not possible to design something just by creating graphical images and expect it to look the same on any computer...

One extra note, because pople keep asking me about this.
To switch between reel-to-reel full view to cassette compact view push small yellow button in between the reels, to switch back to reel-to-reel - yellow button in the right-top corner.
You also can switch between views by double-clicking ZDL-AMP title.
Double click ZDL-title bar also switches EQ view from full to compact and back.
So called "advanced view in EQ" is nothing more, but it adds Balance and X-Fad slider at the buttom.
All other buttong have hover effect so you see which button does what....

like I,.... :-)

Do you have this one: Ultimate Collection - In Good Company, this is one of my fav disc, which I actually spin for pleasure ..and not just for 'coolness'. This is very MUSICAL collection, great performers, not too overdubbbbbbed, just testefully... This CD is very nicely design..very retro and supa'cool booklet.

Just made an update. I've realized that so-called thinger component in winamp-5 actually has no meaning as it was in winamp-3. So I've converted thingers in in winamp-5 versions into something else. There still all the buttons access to other winamp's windows there.
In ZDL ANALOG STUDIO-5 I've renamed the "Thinger" into ZDL-Lab component, and so The 'big knob' (former "TH" button) now is "Z"-button. It opens this component, wich has generally the same layout as thinger was, but with different stuff.
Here's the shot:
Now there's a little fun custom-visualisation there called "Dr. ZEE mini-band visualisation". It has seven buttons selector, switching scenes: zdl-mask VUs, guitar (showing), drummer, bassist, drummer and bassist, organist, and the band.
So these little 'people in the band' are reacting to the beat of the music, creating a mini-illusion of playing band.
The default "scene1" is a flashing golden mask with tiny analog and digital VU-meters, which actually DO react to the playing sound level .
To browse through scenes just click buttons under the mini-screen.
Also there's is extra big timer|clock there, which shows track's time while playing and Current Clock Time while stopped.

ok, one more update... maybe final ...heh
Analog VU-meter and six-track meters used to be just visual animation, which means that they were not true-meters.
Now I've made them actually reflecting level of playing audio file. This makes the whole thind more 'real'.
However, I still am looking into possabilities to make meters action more 'viually pleasant'. This is a tough one. I am trying to work-out script and associated graphical files...
but now at least the machine is 'functional'.
HM, try this version...see if you may like it. If you do, you may want to save the older version (or rename the file) first, so you can compare in decide which looks/works better on your computer/screen...

yeah! this video is super-cool... actually more I watch it more I love it... really tasteful to my eye...and I'm very picky. It's cool, yet smooth, it's sexy, yet not offensive... and with all the details ..just made right.
Btw, walking on the street with drum-sticks - is a dangerous thing
and now you know that Black Fender Jass-Bass is The CHOICE ...lol

Latest update!
I've added an extra 'componet' to ZDL-ANALOG STUDIO - BIG VU-Metters. This component can be open or close separatly. It has pair of larger higher resolotion analog VU-Meters and fancy analyzer in the middle.

Latest update.
Responding to user-requests: ZDL-Audiophile-5 Tube Stereo-System skin for winamp-5 now has separate VU-meters component.
This version can be downloaded here: ZDL-Skins
There's extra button now in main player view, located above and to the right of Big-Knob. This button opens/closes VU-meters component. You also can open/close any component from main menu (right-click anywhere on Winamp to drop-down main menu, or use main-menu button (in zdl-skins often as 'm'-button))

You can't. Well, to be more clear you MUST NOT. Nulsoft Video is for streaming only. You can't even make a screen shot of it.
But I'll post this links for you:
1. conversation at winamp-board ...this was short, wasn'tiT? lol
2. Camtasia Studio 2... not cheap software to make video out of what ever on your screen.
3. I don't know if there's any underground software to record nulsoft video, but as I understand it would not be leagal. Similar to this application: streambox vcr

Just in case, a note, btw. About using ZDL-Audiophile with tubes-up view.
This is only for windows2000 and windows-XP user.
If the edges of the tubs are choppy/not smooth on your screen you may want to try to enable Alpha Blending option in winamp-5. This will make edges nice and smooth, but it will use more CPU from your system.
To enable Alpha Desktop in winamp-5 do this: Main Menu/Options/Preferences/Click Modern Skins(on the left)/Click Alpha Blending Tub/Check Enable Alpha Blending box/Close Preferences
You don't need to do this for any other skins with square shapes, this is an option for skins whith curves/ovals and alike shapes.
